Dance Xplosion® offers Youth Classes for dancers 2-18 years old and Adult Classes for dancers 18+ years old (post High School).

How Do Class Levels Work at DXP?

Dancers must be the class' minimum age by the 1st day of the applicable Summer Session OR September 1st during the Fall-Spring School Year.

Preschool & Level 1 = age based
Level Advanced 1, Level 2, Level Advanced 2, Level 3 = age & ability based
Level 4, Level 5 = by placement audition (contact studio)

*We DO have a Pointe Program & enrollment is by invitation or placement audition. Pointe must be taken in conjunction with a regular, weekly ballet class.

As students get older they are divided into classes based primarily on dance ability. Students should always be taking class at a level that is enjoyable, safe for their body and non-frustrating, but also challenging, educational and inspiring.  It is rare that a student will advance to a new level each year. Most students will take the same level 2-3 years. The students will receive exposure to new skills the first year and gain mastery of skills in additional years until they are ready to confidently and safely advance.

Class Level Recommendations for Fall 2020

New to DXP or Returning After a Break?
Preschool, Intro & Level 1 classes = age based
Levels Advanced 1+ = contact the studio to determine the appropriate class level for your dancer.

SPECIAL NOTE

If a student is new to Dance Xplosion® she/he often begins in a lower level and moves up as the instructors and Director deem appropriate. It is always better for a child’s self-esteem to move up rather than to be moved down. However... if moving down a level will best suit the needs of the dancer, this decision is subject to the discretion of the instructor and the Director.

POINTE CLASSES

In order to take Pointe at Dance Xplosion® you must receive instructor approval AND you must take Pointe in conjunction with a regular, weekly ballet class. Everyone must receive approval, even if you have previously been on pointe at another studio. This is for the dancers' safety.

ADULT CLASSES

Dance Xplosion® is not currently offering Adult Classes for Summer & Fall 2020.

Dance Xplosion® regularly partners with some of Austin's top teachers for specialty classes, such as Yoga, Pilates, and Zumba. These classes are noted on our Class Schedules and occur in Dance Xplosion's studios but registration, including level placement, is handled directly with the outside teachers.
